PARALEGAL
Telan, Meltz, Wallace & Eide, P.A. is a locally established and growing DEFENSE law firm, with an excellent reputation, has an immediate opening for a full time Experienced Paralegal in our Medical Malpractice Department; knowledge of trial preparation, courtroom decorum, and knowledge of local rules a MUST. Our firm’s focus is Medical Malpractice defense, Health Law, Nursing Home defense, Professional Malpractice defense, Local Government and Personal Injury.
Experience required is as follows:
- Paralegal Studies degree
- Minimum 5 years experience in Med-Mal Defense work
- Strong organizational, problem-solving and communication skills while juggling multiple cases in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of legal terminology, litigation process, pre-trial compliance and court proceedings.
- Knowledge of discovery process (preparing requests, responses; review and organize discovery materials; HIPAA compliance, prepare witness materials and privilege logs)
- Familiarity with the laws of the State of Florida, Rules of Civil Procedure, Judicial Administration, discovery, rules of evidence, compliance with judicial orders, local rules and commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures.
- Proficiency in all MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Aderant Total Office (ATO) case management software preferred
- Must be able to perform work with minimal direction and exercise good judgment in determining objectives and approaches to assigned tasks
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to function within a team; ability to get along well with co-workers is a MUST!
- Trial Experience preferred
- Experience with radiology film navigation preferred
- Experience with Lexis Nexis preferred
The successful candidate will be able to work 8:30am – 5:00pm and additional hours as necessary. Personal skills necessary: 1) be a highly organized and detail oriented multi-tasker 2) willing to assist in other areas and work outside normal business hours as needed 3) work well within times of stress and changing deadlines 4) possess the ability to work with all levels of staff, management, opposing counsel and expert witnesses 5) possess an excellent work ethic and be dependable.

Nurse Paralegal
Our locally established and growing defense law firm has an opening for an experienced nurse paralegal in our Medical Malpractice Department.
You will perform a variety of complex duties with limited supervision, including analyzing medical records, chart audits, liens and billing records; conducting medical journal research; preparing outlines, medical chronologies, and narrative summaries for internal and external use; organizing and electronically bookmarking medical records; identifying and communicating with educational speeches/seminars; and assisting with trial preparation.
A qualified candidate must be a current licensed Registered Nurse with at least 10 years of clinical experience. Legal Nurse Consultant/Paralegal education and/or certification required. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Critical care experience and experience working in a law firm or legal department are pluses.
